Position Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate, dependable live-in companion/driver to support an independent gentleman in his mid-90s. While he remains physically active and values his independence, his family is looking to introduce an additional layer of support to ensure his ongoing safety and well-being.

This is not a personal care or medical role. Instead, the position focuses on providing transportation, companionship, and general oversight as an extra set of eyes and ears in the home.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide safe and reliable transportation to appointments, social engagements, and family visits
• Offer consistent companionship and social interaction
• Serve as a supportive presence to help ensure daily safety and well-being
• Assist in coordinating visits with nearby family and friends
• Maintain awareness of surroundings during walks and outings
• Occasionally assist with light tasks such as heating pre-prepared meals (no cooking required)
• Keep personal living space clean and organized

Candidate Profile:

• Comfortable working with a proud, independent older adult who may be resistant to assistance
• Able to set respectful but firm boundaries when needed
• Possesses a strong sense of self, patience, and emotional intelligence
• Has a good sense of humor and enjoys engaging conversation
• Reliable, observant, and proactive without being intrusive
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required
• Bonus: Willingness to learn (or existing ability) to operate a boat

Living Arrangement & Environment:

• Live-in role with private accommodations provided
• Active, family-oriented environment with frequent interaction with children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren
• Opportunities to share meals and participate in family gatherings

Additional Details:

• Position runs from May through late October, when the client typically relocates to Florida
• Potential opportunity for continued employment during winter months in a warmer climate if the arrangement is mutually beneficial

What This Role Is Not:

• No personal care (bathing, dressing, medical support)
• No housekeeping or regular cooking responsibilities
