Role Overview
A private family in Abergele is seeking a professional, compassionate, and reliable Companion / Caregiver to support an independent 80-year-old lady who is experiencing the early stages of dementia.
This is a non-clinical, lifestyle-based role focused on companionship, daily structure, and gentle supervision, while maintaining the individual’s independence and dignity. The successful candidate will provide consistent support within the home and assist with daily routines, ensuring safety and overall well-being.
The family remains closely involved and values clear communication and professional collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily companionship and meaningful engagement
- Assist with preparation of breakfast and evening meals
- Support light household organisation and tidying
- Administer prescribed daily medication as directed
- Offer gentle prompts and reassurance as required
- Accompany the principal to medical appointments, hair appointments, and shopping
- Monitor general well-being and report any concerns promptly
- Maintain regular communication with family members regarding updates
- Encourage safe activity and structured daily routines
Requirements
- Previous experience supporting elderly individuals, particularly those with early-stage dementia
- Patient, calm, and respectful manner with a high level of emotional intelligence
- Ability to balance supervision with encouragement of independence
- Strong communication skills and professional boundaries
- Valid UK driving licence (essential)
- Local to Abergele or surrounding area preferred
- Right to work in the United Kingdom
