Housekeeper

Job Summary:

Private housekeeper for high-net-worth family in Northwest Arkansas who will provide cleaning services for multiple residential facilities and provide garment care for luxury fabrics. The ideal candidate brings a refined sensibility, professional discretion, and a deep knowledge of fine home care - from architectural finishes and art to the nuanced requirements of a gentleman's wardrobe and clothing collection. Non-disclosure agreement (NDA) must be signed as a condition of employment. This is a principal-facing role requiring someone who is proactive, self-directed, and capable of anticipating the household's needs without direction. The Housekeeper will be the primary steward of the home's daily presentation. The individual will work under the direction of the Property Manager to help ensure each residential facility is kept in a clean and orderly condition. This position requires a hard-working individual with a keen eye for detail and enthusiasm for taking on a wide range of tasks.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the impeccable condition of all rooms and surfaces: vacuuming and dusting, maintenance of floors and glass surfaces
  • Care for hardwood, stones, marble, tile, and speciality floor surfaces
  • Maintain fine furniture, antiques, and decorative objects
  • Polishing of silver, brass, and other metal appointments
  • Care for high-end window treatments, drapery, and blinds
  • Management of fine linens and beddings
  • Impeccable preparation and turndown of all bedrooms
  • Kitchen and pantry cleanliness and organization
  • Cleaning and sanitizing of bathrooms to a hotel standard
  • Management of household supplies and cleaning inventory
  • Move reasonably portable furniture to clean underneath and behind
  • Perform consistent organization and tidying
  • Manage all household laundry activities: washing, ironing, folding
  • Change bedding and make beds
  • Look after the principal's wardrobe: pressing, steaming, seasonal rotation, dry cleaning, shoe care, and inventory that includes but is not limited to:
    • Maintaining a precisely organized dressing room at all times
    • Brushing, steaming, and hanging suits and jackets after wearing
    • Monitor of clothing for wear, loose buttons, or repairs needed
    • Organization and maintenance of shoe trees, cedar blocks, and sachets
    • Polishing, conditioning, and correct storage of fine leather footwear
    • Care of neckwear - rolling silk ties, storage without creasing
    • Management of accessories: cufflinks, pocket squares, belts
    • Readying of travel wardrobes, packing to garment-preservation standard and unpacking after travel
  • Run errands including grocery shopping and household purchases
  • Work with other household staff to keep the property running well
  • Discreet and respectful of employers' privacy with strict adherence to NDA
  • Perform any other duties requested by the Property Manager or principals

Education, Experience and Licensing Requirements:

  • Knowledge of fabric care and storage for wool, denim, sports fabrics, cashmere, silk, linen, and cotton
  • Expert pressing and ironing of dress shirts, trousers, and formal wear
  • Correct use of garment steamers for delicate fabrics
  • Hand-washing of fine knitwear and delicate items
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Possession of a valid driver's license, with an acceptable driving record; can be insured at no material increment in cost
  • Prior experience with a strong understanding of formal household or luxury hospitality operations, attention to details and the ability to anticipate needs while maintaining absolute confidentiality
  • Preferred: comfort with technology: household systems, smart home platforms, scheduling apps

  • Ability to work with others and to work independently at times
  • Ability to follow detaled instructions and complete assignments
  • Must observe all safety measures, adhere to all safety procedures and operate equipment in a safe manner
  • Team player and eager to learn with strong hands-on maintenance and trades skillset
  • Exceptional time management and multi-tasking ability
  • Dependable and willing to take on new tasks and responsibilities as needed
  • Proactive and anticipatory; courteous, discreet, honest, and responsible
  • Able to communicate effectively and readily with the principals, supervisors, coworkers and service providers with fluency in English
  • Background check and drug screen required
  • Absolute discretion and adherence to a strict confidentiality agreement (NDA)
  • Able to work legally in the United States
  • Able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without accomodation of any limitations you may have performing those essential functions
  • Reliable transportation is necessary
  • Willing to be on call to work occasional nights and weekends
  • Willing to perform any other duties as may be requested
  • At least three references from former employers

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Prolonged periods walking, standing, bending, stretching, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, stooping or kneeling
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles
  • Must be able to work in a variety of conditions as personnel are occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high places; extreme cold; extreme heat; electricity and vibration
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds at a time
  • Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position
