Housekeeper
Position Overview
A private family in Los Angeles is seeking an experienced, highly organized Housekeeper/ Support Chef to oversee daily culinary service and support the overall operation, presentation, and readiness of the primary residence.
This is a hands-on role combining private chef responsibilities with household operations and hospitality. The ideal candidate understands that excellent private service extends beyond preparing meals: the kitchen should be beautifully maintained, preferred foods and beverages should always be available, service should feel effortless, and the residence should remain organized, welcoming, and ready for the principals and their guests throughout the day.
The successful candidate will be comfortable learning and consistently executing highly specific household preferences, anticipating needs, maintaining established routines, and coordinating closely with the broader estate team.
Culinary & Daily Service
- Prepare and serve daily breakfast and lunch for the principals according to their individual preferences and schedules.
- Prepare dinners, snacks, light meals, and other food service as requested.
- Maintain established breakfast routines for each principal, including specific foods, beverages, supplements, dishes, glassware, and presentation.
- Prepare recurring specialty beverages and house-made items according to established household recipes and preferences
- Maintain fresh fruit, prepared vegetables, cheese and other preferred snacks so they are consistently available and beautifully presented.
- Maintain appropriate chilled glassware and specialty ice, including large-format cubes and ice balls, according to household preferences.
- Maintain preferred store-bought milks, beverages, pantry items and other staples by exact brand, type and size.
- Maintain preferred cookies, snacks and treats, including appropriate storage and serving presentation.
- Learn, document and consistently execute the principals' individual food and beverage preferences.
- Anticipate daily culinary needs rather than waiting for individual requests.
Meal Planning & Provisioning
- Plan meals around the principals' schedules, dietary preferences, entertaining plans and travel.
- Grocery shop and source high-quality produce, proteins, specialty ingredients and household staples.
- Maintain appropriate par levels of frequently used foods, beverages and ingredients.
- Monitor freshness, expiration dates and quality of refrigerated and pantry items.
- Maintain accurate knowledge of preferred brands, products and specialty vendors.
- Coordinate specialty food orders and deliveries as needed.
- Adjust purchasing and preparation according to whether the principals are in residence, traveling or entertaining.
Kitchen Management
- Maintain exceptional organization and cleanliness throughout all kitchen areas, refrigerators, freezers, pantry spaces and food preparation areas.
- Keep refrigerators thoughtfully organized and stocked with prepared foods and preferred grab-and-go items.
- Ensure food and beverage items are properly labeled, stored and rotated.
- Maintain kitchen equipment and identify repair or service needs promptly.
- Keep serving pieces, dishes, glassware and specialty culinary items organized and readily accessible.
- Ensure the kitchen remains clean and operational throughout the day, not solely at the end of service.
- Fully reset the kitchen and culinary areas each evening in preparation for the following day.
Hospitality & Entertaining
- Support lunches, dinners, cocktail service and informal entertaining at the residence.
- Assist with menu planning, table preparation and food presentation.
- Prepare serving pieces, glassware, beverages and other hospitality items in advance.
- Coordinate with household staff for guest arrivals, meal timing and service.
- Support larger events alongside outside caterers, chefs and vendors when appropriate.
- Maintain a warm, gracious and understated service style appropriate for a private residence.
Main House Cleaning
In addition to culinary responsibilities, this position plays an active role in maintaining the daily presentation and functionality of the Main House.
Responsibilities include:
- Maintain overall tidiness and presentation of principal-facing and guest-facing areas throughout the day.
- Regularly walk through the residence and address items requiring attention.
- Ensure rooms are appropriately reset following meals, meetings and household activity.
- Prepare key areas of the residence according to the time of day, including appropriate lighting and music.
- Ensure principal and guest areas remain welcoming, organized and ready for use.
- Communicate maintenance or household issues promptly to the Estate Manager.
- Assist with household setup and operational needs during periods of entertaining, guest stays or increased activity.
Inventory & Household Stocking
- Proactively monitor and replenish food, beverages and kitchen supplies.
- Maintain preferred brands and quantities without requiring repeated direction.
- Monitor kitchen-related household inventories and communicate purchasing needs in advance.
- Maintain organized backstock and avoid unnecessary over-ordering or shortages.
- Ensure specialty entertaining and hospitality supplies are available when needed.
Team Coordination
- Communicate daily with the Estate Manager and household team regarding principal schedules, meals, guests and entertaining.
- Coordinate closely with housekeeping staff so culinary service and household routines operate smoothly together.
- Communicate upcoming grocery, vendor, maintenance and specialty purchasing needs.
- Maintain discretion regarding principal schedules, preferences, guests and household activity.
- Provide clear handover information when another team member or temporary chef needs to cover the role.

Prior experience working in a high-end private residence, family office, luxury hospitality environment or similar setting is strongly preferred.
This is a highly hands-on role combining culinary responsibilities with active daily household support.
Hours and workload will fluctuate depending on principal schedules, entertaining, guest activity, travel and whether the principals are in residence.
The role requires flexibility and the ability to adjust quickly as plans evolve.
