Child Caregiver

Description

THE ROLE

You’ll work in private family homes, luxury hotels, and corporate events across Manhattan and select Brooklyn neighborhoods. Our clients range from newborns to school-age children. They are discerning, they notice everything, and they rebook — or they don’t. This role is measured on trust, not just task completion.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • A family requests you by name for their next booking
  • You’ve managed a difficult moment — a schedule change, an anxious child in an unfamiliar setting — and the parent heard about it only because you told them calmly afterward
  • You’ve taken children on a city outing and brought them back having genuinely had fun, not just survived the afternoon
  • You follow a family’s instructions exactly, even when your instinct differs, and you know when to flag the difference and when to let it go

WE’RE LOOKING FOR EVIDENCE OF

  • A specific child who was hard to reach — and what you actually did, not what you generally do
  • How you handle the first hour with a new family — what you observe, what you do, what you never do
  • A moment when something went wrong and how you resolved it
  • What separates a child who trusts you immediately from one who takes three visits — and how you approach each differently

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5–10 years of experience with children — nannying, teaching, or early education (strong candidates with fewer years considered)
  • College education in education, child development, psychology, or a related field preferred, OR extensive professional nanny experience with demonstrated expertise
  • CPR & First Aid certified, or committed to obtaining certification before first placement
  • Must pass a national and company background check
  • Professional, warm, and responsive communication style
  • Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Reliable commuter throughout Manhattan, select Brooklyn neighborhoods

NOT A FIT IF

You need detailed instructions for every situation, prefer highly predictable routines, or are uncomfortable being the sole adult responsible for a child’s safety and experience for an extended period.

SCHEDULE

  • Shifts: 4-hour minimum (daytime, after-school, or evening) and 8-hour shifts available
  • Weekends required on occasion and through the holiday season
  • Additional hours available for those seeking a fuller schedule

LOCATIONS

All Manhattan neighborhoods, plus Cobble Hill, Brooklyn Heights, Greenpoint, Williamsburg. Some New Jersey locations such as Weehawken and Jersey City.

Benefits: Paid time off

Experience: Baby and toddler care: 5+ years (Required)

Work Location: In person
