Job Description
Live-In Nanny with Norland or Norland-like training will provide attentive, structured and nurturing care for a bright and curious school-aged girl. This is a live-in position suited to a professional nanny who values routine, discretion, and child development in a private household setting.
The ideal candidate will bring a mature, calm, confident presence, combine warmth with authority, and take pride in fostering independence, good manners, emotional intelligence, and academic engagement.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Working in close partnership with the child’s parents:
Education & Enrichment
- Supervise homework, school projects, and academic organization
- Encourage reading, writing, numeracy, and general knowledge
- Arrange enriching activities including arts, culture, and outdoor pursuits
- Promote limited, thoughtful screen use and imaginative play
- Communicate regularly with the parent regarding progress and concerns
Childcare & Development
- Provide attentive, age-appropriate care before and after school
- Foster independence, confidence, resilience, and emotional maturity
- Model excellent manners, respectful communication, and social etiquette
- Serve as a stable, trusted presence within the household
Coordination & Logistics
- Safely drive the child to and from school daily, approximately 45 minutes each way
- Transport the child to and from (and escort the child during) lessons, activities, appointments and social engagements, ensuring punctuality and preparedness for all commitments
- Coordinate playdates and social engagements in line with family values
- Travel with the family during school holidays as required
- Work collaboratively with parents, tutors, and household staff
Routine & Household Structure
- Maintain consistent daily and weekly routines
- Support morning, after-school, and bedtime structures
- Encourage responsibility through age-appropriate expectations
- Keep child-related areas tidy and well-organized, encouraging the child’s age-appropriate expectations
Health, Safety & Well-Being
- Ensure physical safety and emotional well-being at all times
- Prepare or oversee nutritious meals and snacks for the child
- Promote healthy habits, hygiene, and regular physical activity
- Administer basic first aid when necessary
- Act calmly and responsibly in emergencies
- Additional duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience as a Norland-style or traditional live-in nanny
- Must have a valid Passport (for occasional international travel)
- Must have a valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record
- CPR and First Aid certified
- Fluent or native English speaker
- Strong understanding of development for pre-teen children
- Excellent, verifiable references from private households
Education
- Preferred Norland Certified

- Professional, well-presented, and culturally aware
- Respectful of household privacy and confidentiality
- Formal childcare training strongly preferred
Working Conditions
This role requires regular in-office presence and may involve:
- Ability to navigate office spaces, including stairs if applicable.
- Private bedroom and bathroom provided
- All meals included
- Agreed personal time respected outside scheduled working hours
- Clear boundaries between on-duty and off-duty time
- Light lifting or occasionally lifting of 15 pounds, such as household supplies or items.
- Comfort with dogs
- Weekly agreed personal days off (e.g., weekends off)
- Flexibility to work weekends if needed (noting this will enable time off during the week)
- School-year schedule with increased hours during holidays
- Occasional evenings and travel required
Travel
- Role will include occasional travel both domestic and internationally, approximately 10% of the year.
