Private Family Chef & Household Support

Greenwich, CT

A private family in Greenwich, CT is seeking a skilled, reliable, and health-conscious Private Family Chef & Household Support to provide consistent daily meals and assist with light household coverage in a well-run private residence.

This role is best suited for a hands-on culinary professional with a strong foundation in fresh, seasonal, California-style cooking — clean, vibrant, produce-forward, and beautifully simple. The family values high-quality ingredients, thoughtful sourcing, and meals that feel fresh, balanced, and elegant without being overly fussy.

The household has two distinct culinary needs:
One principal: fresh, organic, health-conscious, vegan and vegetarian-forward cooking, with an emphasis on farmers market produce, clean preparations, and dietary sensitivity.
Second principal: more traditional, well-prepared everyday cooking, including classic favorites, simple proteins, soups, salads, sandwiches, comfort foods, and balanced lunches and dinners.

This is a long-term role for someone who enjoys being part of a team, values structure, and is comfortable contributing beyond the kitchen when needed. The family values professionalism, discretion, calm energy, and a cooperative presence.

Culinary Duties

  • Plan and prepare fresh daily meals for the household, including breakfasts, lighter fare, snacks, composed lunches, and dinners aligned with the family’s preferences and routines.

  • Create menus with a strong emphasis on California-style cooking: fresh, organic, seasonal, produce-forward, clean, colorful, and health-conscious.

  • Prepare vegan and vegetarian-forward meals, using farmers market produce, fresh herbs, clean ingredients, and thoughtful substitutions as needed.

  • Prepare traditional, well-executed meals, including classic favorites, simple proteins, soups, salads, sandwiches, comfort foods, and balanced everyday meals.

  • Source and procure high-quality ingredients with an emphasis on freshness, seasonality, organic produce, farmers markets, and thoughtful selection.

  • Adapt menus and recipes to accommodate dietary preferences while keeping meals flavorful, visually appealing, and satisfying.

  • Prepare meals in a structured manner that ensures consistent availability between cooking days.

  • Portion, store, and label prepared items with clear handling and reheating guidance.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen, including proper food storage, pantry organization, and equipment care.

  • Monitor kitchen staples and household food supplies, managing grocery purchasing or providing organized replenishment lists as appropriate.

  • Independently execute small to medium-scale entertaining, including casual dinners for 4–8 guests, with the ability to handle setup, service, and cleanup when additional staff is not present.

Household Support

  • Receive deliveries and assist with pantry and kitchen restocking.

  • Answer the household phone and gate when required.

  • Greet guests and setup for gatherings.

  • Provide beverage and table service during meals.

  • Feed and walk the family dog as needed.

  • Coordinate respectfully with other household staff to support daily operations.

Professional Expectations

  • Maintain discretion and respect household privacy at all times.

  • Follow established household systems and direction from the principals and Chief of Staff.

  • Communicate clearly and work collaboratively with the household team.

  • Remain receptive to feedback and willing to adjust to household preferences.

  • Bring a calm, flexible, service-minded attitude to the role.

Qualifications

  • Experienced culinary professional with prior work in private homes or high-touch hospitality environments.

  • Strong background in fresh, seasonal, organic, health-conscious cooking.

  • Comfortable preparing both vegan/vegetarian-forward meals and more traditional everyday meals.

  • Menu-forward and creative while remaining aligned with household preferences.

  • Familiarity with farmers market sourcing and high-quality ingredient selection.

  • Organized, dependable, and detail-oriented.

  • Comfortable with a role that includes both culinary and light household responsibilities.

  • Able to execute casual entertaining independently when needed.

  • Pet-friendly.

  • Professional demeanor and positive attitude.
