A prestigious private household is seeking an experienced and highly versatile Domestic Couple (M/F) to take responsibility for the upkeep, security and day-to-day care of the principal’s secondary residence in Cannes, Alpes-Maritimes.

The couple will jointly oversee both the interior and exterior of the property, ensuring that the residence, gardens, pool and technical areas are consistently maintained to an excellent standard and are fully prepared ahead of the employer’s visits.

The role is particularly suited to a practical and self-sufficient couple with proven private-estate experience. Strong gardening expertise is essential, alongside the ability to carry out general maintenance, minor repairs and property supervision.

The position offers a permanent CDI contract of 35 hours per week, with independent accommodation provided.

Responsibilities

Interior & Household Care

Maintain the residence to a consistently high standard, including cleaning, dusting, polishing and general upkeep.
Prepare bedrooms and living areas prior to the employer’s arrival.
Manage laundry, including washing, ironing, folding and appropriate storage.
Monitor household supplies and maintain adequate stock levels.
Prepare simple meals when the employer is staying at the property.
Carry out grocery shopping and other household errands as required.
Receive deliveries and ensure items are correctly handled and stored.

Garden & Grounds Maintenance

Take full responsibility for the ongoing care of the property’s gardens and outdoor areas.
Mow lawns and maintain borders, plants and landscaped areas.
Carry out pruning, trimming, weeding, watering and planting.
Monitor the health and condition of plants and garden areas.
Maintain gardening tools, machinery and outdoor equipment.
Keep terraces and outdoor furniture clean, presentable and well maintained.
Oversee the upkeep of the swimming pool and pool house.

Property & Technical Maintenance

Monitor the general condition of the residence and identify maintenance requirements.
Carry out practical handyman duties and minor repairs where appropriate.
Monitor essential systems and equipment, including air conditioning, heating and technical/utility areas.
Coordinate with external contractors and tradespeople when specialist intervention is required.
Welcome contractors to the property and supervise or follow up on their work.
Ensure maintenance issues are reported promptly to the employer.

Security & Caretaking

Maintain a discreet and vigilant presence at the property.
Monitor and safeguard the residence when the employer is away.
Operate and oversee the property’s alarm system.
Ensure the house and grounds remain secure and well maintained between visits.
Receive deliveries and visitors appropriately.
Maintain awareness of any issues that could affect the security or condition of the property.

Vehicles & Administration

Drive when required for household-related activities and errands.
Keep household vehicles clean and in good condition.
Monitor servicing, maintenance schedules and vehicle records.
Maintain an accurate account book for household-related expenses.
Provide regular updates and reports to the employer regarding the property and any required works.

Job Requirements

The ideal couple will be experienced private-estate professionals who are comfortable working independently and taking complete responsibility for a property.

At least 5 years’ experience in a comparable private household, estate or caretaking position.
Proven experience working as a professional domestic or caretaker couple.
Strong practical gardening and groundskeeping skills.
Ability to manage both interior and exterior responsibilities to a high standard.
Practical maintenance and handyman capabilities.
A responsible, proactive and hands-on approach.
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work autonomously.
Flexibility to adapt to the employer’s schedule and requirements.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
A genuine service mindset and high level of responsibility.
Complete discretion and respect for the employer’s privacy.
French-speaking ability.
Valid driving licence required.

The couple should be comfortable working as a team while also taking individual responsibility for their respective areas of expertise.

Working Conditions

Salary

€4,500 – €5,000 net per month, depending on experience and profile.
