A private principal is seeking an experienced, proactive, and service-oriented Housekeeper/Cook to provide full-time support within a beautifully maintained Manhattan residence. This is an excellent opportunity for a career private service professional who takes pride in maintaining an impeccably organized home while preparing simple, healthy meals and ensuring every aspect of the household runs smoothly. This is not a formal chef position. Rather, the ideal candidate genuinely enjoys caring for a home, takes ownership of household standards, and understands the level of detail and consistency required in a high-end private residence. The successful candidate will work closely with the current team and fellow Housekeeper/Cook to provide seamless household coverage throughout the week.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain the residence to exceptionally high housekeeping standards, ensuring all living spaces remain immaculate, organized, and guest-ready
- Perform daily housekeeping including kitchen maintenance, dusting, vacuuming, tidying, bathroom upkeep, and general household resets
- Oversee laundry, ironing, steaming, wardrobe care, linens, towels, and closet organization
- Change bed linens and maintain guest rooms as needed
- Prepare simple, healthy meals and meal prep based on the principal's preferences
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked kitchen
- Grocery shop and manage household inventory, ensuring supplies never run low
- Receive deliveries, unpack purchases, and organize household items
- Coordinate dry cleaning, returns, alterations, and household errands
- Prepare the residence for guests, meetings, and the principal's return home
- Assist with occasional entertaining, including table setting, light service, and event preparation
- Report maintenance concerns and coordinate with vendors as needed
- Follow established household systems while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency
- Work collaboratively with the team and second Housekeeper/Cook to ensure seamless communication and continuity of care
Requirements:
- 5-7+ years of experience as a Housekeeper, Housekeeper/Cook, Executive Housekeeper, or Household Assistant in a private residence
- Exceptional housekeeping, laundry, wardrobe, and household organization skills
- Experience preparing simple, healthy meals and meal prep (formal chef experience not required)
- Strong knowledge of garment care, luxury finishes, and household maintenance
- High attention to detail with excellent organizational skills
- Positive, discreet, service-oriented personality
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to anticipate household needs and work independently
- Professional demeanor with excellent judgment and complete discretion
- No-task-too-small mentality
Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday | Approximately 11AM-8/10PM with flexibility as needed
Compensation: Up to $50/hour based on experience
