Estate Caretaker & Maintenance Technician

Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

$60-70/hour DOE plus monthly health stipend 

About the Opportunity

A private family on the San Francisco Peninsula is seeking an experienced, highly capable estate caretaker to oversee the daily operation of the exterior maintenance of a luxury estate.

This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys solving problems, takes pride in preventative maintenance, and understands the importance of keeping a high-end residence operating flawlessly. The ideal candidate is comfortable managing both routine maintenance and larger property projects while coordinating outside vendors when needed.

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform routine and preventative maintenance throughout the residence
• Troubleshoot and repair household systems whenever possible before engaging outside vendors
• Monitor HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, irrigation, pool, and other residential systems
• Coordinate and supervise contractors to ensure quality workmanship and timely completion
• Maintain the property’s overall appearance, including light exterior maintenance, pressure washing, sweeping, organization, and seasonal upkeep
• Replace air filters, smoke detector batteries, light bulbs, and other routine maintenance items
• Receive deliveries, run property-related errands, and maintain maintenance inventories
• Maintain organized workshops, storage areas, tools, and equipment
• Communicate maintenance updates and project progress with household leadership
• Respond to occasional after-hours property emergencies as needed
• Assist with special projects and estate improvements

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess:

• Minimum 10 years of experience in estate maintenance, facilities management, building engineering, construction, or a comparable hands-on role
• Previous experience supporting luxury private residences or estates strongly preferred
• Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent troubleshooting skills
• Knowledge of residential building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, irrigation, and generators
• Professional appearance with exceptional communication skills
• Self-motivated, organized, discreet, and dependable
• Comfortable working independently while collaborating with household staff and vendors
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Outstanding, verifiable professional references

Compensation
