ABOUT THE HOUSEHOLD & ROLE
This family of five, based in Bartonville, includes two working parents (one of whom works from home) and two young daughters who thrive on routine. Mom is a hands-on, stay-at-home parent and homeschool educator and will remain the children's primary caregiver. This role exists to take ownership of the everyday household tasks - laundry, tidying, light meal prep, and errands - that currently compete for the family's time, while also providing Spanish bilingual childcare support and enrichment for the girls.
The position is split across two homes roughly three miles apart: several days per week supporting the primary household, and one day per week providing companionship and light logistical support to a senior family member living nearby. This is not a caregiving or medical role - it's help with groceries, medication reminders, and the small logistics of daily life.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Household laundry
- Maintain daily order in common living areas
- Prepare simple meals and snacks for the children and provide light meal prep support for the family
- Handle grocery shopping or pickup and household errands
- Provide regular Spanish-language conversation and engagement with the children throughout the day
- Lead reading, crafts, play, and age-appropriate educational enrichment activities
- Support children's daily routines and encourage independence with age-appropriate cleanup
- Provide companionship and errand support to a family member living nearby, including grocery runs, accompanying to appointments, and light tidying
- Coordinate occasional household vendor scheduling as needed
- Accompany the family on occasional domestic and international travel (preferred, not required)
REQUIREMENTS
- Fluent or native-level Spanish, with the ability to converse regularly with young children
- Prior experience in a nanny, family assistant, or household assistant capacity (private-service experience preferred; strong transferable experience considered)
- Comfortable managing responsibilities across two households on a set weekly schedule
- Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle for errands (mileage reimbursed)
- Comfortable around a household pet
- Able to pass a background check, drug screening, and sign a confidentiality agreement
IDEAL CANDIDATE
You notice what needs attention before being asked - towels put away, a room reset, an item added to the grocery list - and handle it. You bring a calm, patient presence to your time with the children, comfortable stepping in to soothe or redirect while deferring to the parents on anything involving safety, routine changes, or bigger decisions. You communicate promptly when something needs attention or approval. You're equally comfortable running a household task list and sitting down for conversation and companionship, and you hold the family's privacy and home life in confidence.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
The role is split between two residences approximately three miles apart, with a set weekly schedule across both. The primary home has a pool, so awareness around water safety is important.
