Job Description

A high-profile principal and household in the San Francisco Bay Area are seeking an accomplished Private / Corporate Chef to take responsibility for their daily culinary requirements.

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented chef with a strong background in high-end restaurants who is looking to bring their culinary expertise into an exclusive private service environment.

The Chef will primarily work from a sophisticated, fully equipped professional kitchen located approximately 10 minutes from the principal’s residence. Responsibilities will include preparing fresh lunch and dinner each day, advance preparation for breakfasts and weekends, as well as creating carefully considered meals, snacks, and provisions for travel and outings.

The successful candidate will combine exceptional technical ability with creativity, discretion, and a modern approach to cooking. The household appreciates fresh, seasonal and high-quality ingredients, healthy and balanced cuisine, and elegant presentation that feels refined without becoming unnecessarily elaborate.

Responsibilities

Daily Culinary Service

  • Prepare and deliver sophisticated daily lunch and dinner menus for the principal and household.
  • Plan and complete advance preparation for breakfasts, weekend meals, and other household requirements.
  • Develop varied weekly menus drawing on a broad range of international cuisines.
  • Adapt menus according to individual preferences, dietary requirements, wellness objectives, and seasonal produce.
  • Prepare beautifully presented dishes with an emphasis on flavour, freshness, balance, and consistency.
  • Create bespoke snacks, packed meals, and provisions for private aviation, day trips, and other travel.
  • Occasionally prepare and serve meals at the principal’s residence.

Private Events & Entertaining

  • Design and execute menus for intimate dinner parties, private entertaining, executive lunches, and special occasions.
  • Adapt the culinary offering to different guest numbers, occasions, and service styles.
  • Work discreetly and professionally when cooking for the principal, family, and guests.

Sourcing & Kitchen Management

  • Take full responsibility for grocery shopping, ingredient sourcing, and daily culinary procurement.
  • Establish relationships with quality local suppliers, farmers’ markets, specialty food producers, and artisanal vendors.
  • Source premium proteins, organic produce, seasonal ingredients, and other high-quality products.
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels and ensure ingredients are fresh and appropriately stored.
  • Keep the professional office kitchen and residential kitchen used for events exceptionally clean, organised, and well maintained.
  • Follow rigorous food safety, hygiene, storage, labelling, and temperature-control procedures.

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate will be an experienced professional chef who has developed their skills in a high-end, demanding restaurant environment and is now interested in applying those skills within a private household setting.

Candidates may currently be working as a Chef de Partie, Sous Chef, Executive Chef, or in a comparable senior culinary position. Experience transitioning from fine dining or other premium restaurant environments into private service would be highly advantageous.

You should demonstrate:

  • Strong classical and contemporary culinary techniques.
  • Excellent knowledge of international and global cuisines.
  • A modern approach to healthy, nutritious, and ingredient-led cooking.
  • Exceptional attention to flavour, presentation, detail, and consistency.
  • An ability to create sophisticated dishes that remain approachable rather than overly elaborate.
  • Experience working efficiently in fast-paced, high-standard professional kitchens.
  • Excellent organisation and time-management skills.
  • The flexibility to manage daily service, advance preparation, deliveries, travel provisions, and occasional events.
  • A polished, discreet, and professional manner appropriate for a high-profile private household.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid US driver’s license.
  • Reliable personal transportation for transporting prepared food between the office kitchen and residence.
  • Ability to successfully complete a background check.
  • Strong understanding of professional food safety and sanitation standards.
