A private family in Westchester County, NY is seeking an experienced, polished Private Chef to oversee the culinary program for their residence. The ideal candidate will bring a sophisticated culinary background along with an understanding of the nuances of working within a private home. Responsibilities will include menu development, sourcing, preparation and execution of daily meals, plated dinners, Shabbos meals, guest entertaining and special events. Service ranges from relaxed family dining to more elevated multi-course meals, requiring a Chef who can adapt seamlessly to the occasion while maintaining exceptional standards of quality, presentation and consistency.
The Chef will also support the family’s aviation needs by preparing thoughtfully composed meals for the aircraft, including appropriate packaging, presentation and reheating or finishing instructions for the cabin team. This position will work closely with and provide some direction to a Cabin Attendant, requiring the sophistication and organizational capabilities of a culinary manager in addition to strong hands-on cooking skills. The Chef should be comfortable engaging directly with principals and guests, assisting with event planning and occasionally participating in meal service, including plated soup or salad, entrée and dessert courses, with Shabbos dinners generally consisting of four more elevated courses.
The successful candidate will have a warm, comfortable and approachable presence while understanding how to remain discreet and non-invasive within a private residence. The family is seeking someone who becomes a familiar and trusted presence in the home—professional and front-facing when needed, yet relaxed and intuitive in their approach. Previous private estate experience is strongly preferred, particularly for candidates accustomed to anticipating household needs, collaborating across departments and balancing restaurant-level culinary standards with the flexibility, discretion and personalized service required in a private family environment.
