POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director of Real Estate (DoRE) will lead and oversee all residential, commercial, and specialty real estate operations for a multigenerational family with a diverse and evolving portfolio. The residential holdings include a large family estate in Wyoming, vacation homes in the Caribbean and Mexico, and family residences and condominiums in Wyoming and across the Midwest and East Coast.
This newly created leadership role reports directly to the Principals and is integral to the evolving Family Office. The DoRE is responsible for building systems, developing people, fostering team collaboration, and cultivating partnerships that ensure the portfolio is maintained to the highest standards of quality, functionality, and long-term value. The role blends strategic oversight with hands-on execution, supporting both residential and commercial objectives while safeguarding privacy, safety, and service alignment with the family's expectations. Reporting to the DoRE will be the primary residence property manager and facilities team, along with all remote property managers and vendor teams, requiring active leadership, coaching, and alignment of diverse on-site and remote staff. This role will liaise with a wide range of extended team members, including household and personal service employees, operating business leaders, and corporate and Family Office staff, requiring diplomacy, interpersonal agility, and the ability to unify multiple stakeholders around shared standards and goals.
A central focus of this position is value-conscious stewardship: ensuring the family receives top-quality service, materials, and outcomes while exercising fiscal discipline, negotiating favorable terms, benchmarking costs, and maximizing return on investment. The DoRE will be a savvy, principled negotiator who balances uncompromising standards with cost control, vendor accountability, and financial prudence. Key responsibilities span property and facilities management, design and construction oversight, capital project planning, vendor management, and compliance. The DoRE will represent the Principals externally with architects, contractors, city planners, and legal professionals, while collaborating internally with household staff, family office personnel, and trusted advisors to streamline communication and minimize disruption.
This leader will also drive budgeting and capital planning across the portfolio; manage preventative maintenance programs; and ensure all documentation, inventory, and operational systems remain current, accessible, and well-organized. While the role emphasizes facilities, infrastructure, and commercial oversight, there will be light-touch collaboration with household and personal staff to ensure service expectations are consistently aligned, always through a lens of value, durability, and total cost of ownership.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned construction, real estate, or facilities executive with deep experience in high-accountability, high-service environments. They are a calm, effective communicator, a strategic thinker, and a detailed executor, equally comfortable directing vendors, supervising property managers, negotiating commercial terms, or advising Principals. This individual thrives in complex environments and takes pride in preserving long-term portfolio value.
