Position Overview
An active family with a beautiful 20,000-square-foot residence in Washington, D.C. is seeking an exceptional, detail-oriented, and trustworthy Housekeeper to join their long-term household staff. The ideal candidate will take great pride in maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming home environment, and will work collaboratively alongside the family’s existing housekeeper and chef.
This is a full-time position for someone who is highly organized, discreet, and dependable—with excellent cleaning, laundry, and ironing/steaming skills. The principals travel frequently, so it is essential that this person can be trusted to work independently and take initiative in managing daily household upkeep.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain a spotless, organized, and well-presented home across all areas of the 20,000 sq. ft. residence
• Perform daily and deep cleaning tasks using environmentally friendly cleaning products
• Handle laundry, including delicate fabrics, ironing, steaming, and proper wardrobe care
• Keep household supplies stocked and organized
• Coordinate with other household staff to ensure smooth operations and excellent communication
• Handle errands such as grocery shopping and dry cleaning drop-off/pick-up (must be able to drive)
• Maintain pet areas and assist with light pet care for three friendly dogs
• Prepare the home for the principals’ return from travel (fresh linens, restocking, tidying)
• Report maintenance or repair needs promptly
• Uphold the highest standards of discretion, professionalism, and trustworthiness
Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years of experience working in a fine private home or luxury hospitality environment
• Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Must love dogs and be comfortable around pets
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Knowledge of green/eco-friendly cleaning products and methods
• Excellent communication skills and professional demeanor
• U.S. work authorization required
