Head Gardener / Grounds Manager
Location: West Hollywood, California
A private family in West Hollywood is seeking an experienced, hands-on Head Gardener / Grounds Manager to assume full responsibility for the care, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the property's gardens and outdoor spaces.
This is a full-time position for a horticulture professional who takes pride in maintaining beautiful, healthy grounds year-round. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing all aspects of plant health, seasonal planting, irrigation oversight, and garden presentation.
Responsibilities
- Maintain all gardens, planting beds, lawns, containers, and outdoor living areas
- Monitor and manage plant health across the property
- Perform pruning, deadheading, fertilization, mulching, weeding, and seasonal maintenance
- Maintain rose gardens, flowering beds, vegetable gardens, and specialty plantings (bougainvillea, Cypress, Ficus, olive trees)
- Oversee irrigation systems and identify leaks, deficiencies, or required repairs
- Develop and execute seasonal planting plans
- Monitor and address pest and disease issues
- Coordinate with specialty vendors including arborists, irrigation contractors, and landscape designers
- Prepare grounds for principal arrivals, guests, events, and special occasions
- Maintain garden tools, supplies, and equipment
- Provide regular updates regarding garden conditions, projects, and recommendations
- Identify opportunities for ongoing landscape improvements
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience maintaining high-end residential estates
- Strong horticultural knowledge and plant care skills
- Experience caring for roses, ornamental gardens, and container plantings
- Knowledge of irrigation systems and water management
- Ability to work independently and proactively
- Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining exceptional standards
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to lift, carry, and perform physical outdoor work in varying weather conditions
Schedule
- Full-time, Monday through Friday
- Additional flexibility for special projects, events, or seasonal needs
Employment Requirements

- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be willing to undergo and successfully pass a comprehensive background check, reference verification, and employment eligibility screening as a condition of employment.

Compensation
Competitive compensation package based on experience, qualifications. Salary range: $40–$50 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
