About the Position

We are seeking an exceptional private chef to join the household team in Austin, Texas, with occasional travel throughout the year. This is a unique opportunity for a classically trained culinary professional to showcase their expertise in an intimate, high-end private dining environment.

The ideal candidate is a classically trained French chef. 

Given the nature of this role, flexibility in scheduling is important.

Must be available to begin work before early/mid August

Schedule & Service Requirements

Regular Service (5 days per week)

  • Monday through Thursday + Saturday (schedule potentially flexible)
  • Lunch: Single-course meal
  • Dinner: Two to three-course plated meal
  • Meals generally prepared for 1-2 people on weekdays, 3-4 on weekends 

Special Events

  • Occasional dinner parties for 8-10 guests
  • Periodic (1-2x/year) larger-scale events for 20-30 guests (with support staff assistance)

Ideal Candidate Profile

Required Qualifications

  • Classically trained French chef with formal culinary education
  • Either:
    • Minimum 2-3+ years of experience as a private chef in high-net-worth households, OR
    • Minimum 5-7+ years in high-end restaurants, luxury hotels, or resorts
  • Expert-level culinary skills with focus on refined, contemporary French cuisine
  • Proven ability to source and work with specialty and global ingredients
  • Demonstrated expertise in multiple global cuisines, particularly French, Japanese, Italian, and Middle Eastern
  • Ability to seamlessly integrate techniques and ingredients across culinary traditions while maintaining authenticity
  • Strong menu planning and development capabilities
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Authorized to work in the United States

Responsibilities

Daily Operations

  • Plan and prepare lunch and dinner menus tailored to principals' preferences and dietary considerations
  • Source high-quality, seasonal, and specialty ingredients from local purveyors and specialty markets
  • Maintain impeccably organized and sanitary kitchen operations
  • Manage kitchen inventory, ordering, and budget
  • Coordinate with household staff as needed

Special Events

  • Design and execute menus for intimate dinner parties and larger gatherings
  • Coordinate with additional event staff when necessary
  • Ensure seamless service and presentation for all occasions

Additional Duties

  • Accommodate dietary preferences, restrictions, and last-minute menu adjustments
  • Maintain kitchen equipment and coordinate repairs/maintenance
  • Stay current with culinary trends while honoring classical French technique

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience ($90,000 to $110,000 annually, DOE)
