Position Summary

The Domestic Houseman is responsible for maintaining the overall cleanliness, organization, and functionality of a large private estate. This role supports the housekeeper to ensure the residence operates at the highest standard of service, discretion, and efficiency.

The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, physically capable, and committed to excellence in a luxury residential environment.  Experience with walk-behind scrubber is a plus.

 

Key Responsibilities

Property & Grounds Maintenance

  • Maintain cleanliness and presentation of all exterior areas, walkways, patios, and pool areas
  • Power wash, sweep, scrub, dust, and polish surfaces as needed
  • Clean exterior kitchen and BBQ area, and outdoor furniture
  • Ensure all outdoor equipment is clean, organized, and properly stored

Interior Support

  • Assist housekeeper with light cleaning, organization, and upkeep of interior spaces
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of storage areas and service space

Maintenance & Technical Tasks

  • Perform light maintenance (e.g., replacing bulbs, minor repairs, reporting issues)
  • Conduct routine property walkthroughs (interior and exterior)
  • Troubleshoot basic electronic and AV systems as needed

General Support

  • Assist other household staff as needed
  • Provide attentive pet care when required
  • Remove trash and recycling

 

Requirements & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a Houseman or in a similar role within a large private residence or luxury hospitality setting
  • Strong knowledge of cleaning products, tools, and surface care
  • Physically capable of lifting 50+ lbs and performing manual tasks
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Strong references from previous employers

Schedule & Work Environment

 

Typically Tuesday through Friday and an occasional Saturday (subject to change based on household needs)
