Live-In, Unencumbered Caregiver / Companion, needed for Elderly Gentleman (Florida & California Travel Required) 6 days on, 1 day off. Also, previous household, handyman and computer experience would be an added plus.
We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and professional live-in caregiver/companion for an elderly gentleman, who is over 100 years old, and remains ambulatory with the assistance of a walker.
This is a unique long-term opportunity for someone who enjoys providing companionship, assistance with daily living activities, and becoming a trusted part of a family’s support system.
Responsibilities Include:
- Providing 24/7, live-in companionship & supervision, by sharing the same room, in a separate bed.
- Assisting with dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene
- Helping with seated-bench showers
- Administering medications and eye drops, as needed
- Preparing light meals and snacks
- Shadowing and assisting the gentleman as he moves throughout the home, using his walker
- Driving gentleman, and sometimes wife, to medical appointments, restaurants, social outings, and other activities.
- Providing engaging companionship and conversation
The gentleman is in relatively good physical health, but experiences early-stage dementia. He often repeats stories and conversations, so we are looking for someone patient, kind, and attentive, who can respond warmly and respectfully each time, helping him remain comfortable and in good spirits.
Requirements:
- Prior caregiving experience preferred
- Clean driving record and valid driver’s license
- Ability to travel and spend time in both Florida and California throughout the year
- Patient, dependable, discreet, and compassionate personality
- Comfortable providing mobility assistance and personal care
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Computer savvy, as gentleman uses a computer daily, in his office
Long-Term Opportunity:
This position is intended to be a long-term role. Following the gentleman’s eventual passing, the position would transition into a houseman/handyman and personal assistant rolesupporting his wife.
Future responsibilities may include, remaining in position
- Driving wife to appointments, dinners, and social engagements
- Running errands and shopping
- Assisting with household organization and maintenance
- Light cooking when needed
- Handling miscellaneous household and personal support tasks
