Senior Butler & Household Operations Coordinator

The Senior Butler & Household Operations Coordinator is responsible for delivering exceptional front-of-house hospitality while supporting the smooth daily operation of multiple luxury residences. Working in close partnership with the House Manager and broader household team, this individual will provide highly personalized service to the principals, maintain impeccable household standards, and help ensure every aspect of the home’s operation is executed seamlessly.

This role requires exceptional discretion, anticipation, attention to detail, flexibility, and a genuine passion for hospitality. The ideal candidate possesses a five-star hotel mindset, takes pride in creating effortless experiences, and is equally comfortable serving a formal dinner, preparing a residence for guests, coordinating travel logistics, or running household errands when needed. No task is beneath them if it contributes to a flawlessly run home.

This is a hands-on role. While highly polished and service-oriented, the successful candidate takes pride in rolling up their sleeves and handling both refined hospitality and everyday household tasks with the same level of enthusiasm and attention to detail.

 

Responsibilities

Hospitality & Daily Service

  • Provide seamless, high-level butler service while maintaining complete professionalism and discretion.
  • Own the day-to-day front-of-house presentation of the residence, ensuring all principal-facing spaces remain immaculate and guest-ready.
  • Coordinate meal service with the chef and House Manager to ensure flawless execution.
  • Set and serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, and entertaining events with impeccable attention to detail.
  • Execute both formal and informal table service, including wine service, cocktail service, and proper dining etiquette.
  • Welcome guests and oversee their experience within the home.
  • Prepare coffee, tea, smoothies, beverages, and light meals as requested.
  • Maintain beverage stations, bars, china, crystal, silver, pantry organization, and entertaining spaces.
  • Prepare and organize daily supplements while monitoring inventory.
  • Assist the chef with meal service and kitchen reset before and after meals.
  • Learn and anticipate the principals’ routines, preferences, and hospitality standards.

Household Operations & Coordination

  • Partner closely with the House Manager in the daily operation of the residence while executing assigned priorities and maintaining exceptional service standards.
  • Coordinate daily with housekeeping, chef, personal assistants, vendors, and service providers to ensure smooth household operations.
  • Maintain inventories of china, crystal, silver, linens, entertaining supplies, guest amenities, pantry items, beverages, and household products.
  • Organize deliveries, packages, groceries, and household supplies.
  • Assist with sourcing and purchasing household items, entertaining pieces, seasonal décor, gifts, flowers, and specialty products.
  • Run household errands as needed, including trips to the farmers market, grocery store, specialty food shops, florists, dry cleaners, pharmacies, and other vendors.
  • Assist with preparing the home before guests arrive and restoring it afterward.
  • Help coordinate vendor visits, maintenance appointments, repairs, and household projects.
  • Maintain household manuals, inventories, and organizational systems.
  • Assist in keeping the principals’ bedroom, bathrooms, closets, and personal spaces impeccably organized.
  • Step in wherever needed to support the household team while maintaining a “one team” mentality.

Travel & Lifestyle Support

  • Accompany the family on select domestic and international travel.
  • Pack and unpack with exceptional organization and attention to detail.
  • Prepare wardrobes based on travel itineraries, weather, events, and activities.
  • Maintain detailed packing lists and travel inventories.
  • Coordinate movement of clothing and personal belongings between residences.
  • Prepare destination residences before the principals arrive.
  • Ensure luggage, valuables, and travel essentials are properly organized throughout every trip.

Wardrobe & Personal Organization

  • Work closely with housekeeping and the laundress to maintain impeccably organized closets.
  • Coordinate tailoring, alterations, dry cleaning, and specialty garment care.
  • Maintain inventories of clothing, luggage, shoes, handbags, watches, jewelry, and accessories.
  • Coordinate seasonal wardrobe rotations.
  • Ensure wardrobes are always organized and travel-ready.

Vehicle & Household Errands

  • Retrieve and return family vehicles from garages or valet as needed.
  • Keep family vehicles fueled, clean, charged, stocked, and ready for daily use.
  • Coordinate routine maintenance, detailing, inspections, registration renewals, and service appointments.
  • Handle minor vehicle-related issues, including tire repairs, charging, fueling, windshield replacement, and coordinating roadside assistance or service providers.
  • Occasionally drive principals or guests for short local trips when requested.
  • Coordinate transportation providers, chauffeurs, and vehicle logistics when appropriate.
  • Run errands efficiently and proactively to support the smooth operation of the household, including pickups, returns, sourcing specialty items, and last-minute requests.

Anticipation & Personalized Service

  • Anticipate the principals’ needs before they are expressed.
  • Learn household routines and continuously refine systems that improve efficiency and organization.
  • Identify opportunities to elevate hospitality and the overall household experience.
  • Exercise exceptional judgment, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Adapt quickly to changing priorities while maintaining a calm, solutions-oriented approach.
  • Create thoughtful touches that make daily life easier, more beautiful, and more enjoyable for the principals and their guests.

Design & Aesthetic Awareness (Preferred)

  • An appreciation for interior design, visual presentation, and luxury hospitality is highly valued.
  • Possess a natural eye for styling, organization, and creating beautiful, welcoming spaces.
  • Help maintain the home’s aesthetic standards by thoughtfully arranging flowers, tabletop displays, decorative objects, books, candles, and seasonal décor.
  • Assist with sourcing tabletop pieces, entertaining accessories, linens, decorative objects, and household items that align with the principals’ design vision.
  • Recognize opportunities to elevate the appearance of the home through thoughtful details while respecting the overall design direction.

Professional Qualities

  • Exceptional professionalism, discretion, and integrity.
  • Highly organized with extraordinary attention to detail.
  • Strong hospitality instincts and a genuine service-first mindset.
  • Experience in luxury private households, estates, yachts, boutique hotels, or similar UHNW environments.
  • Comfortable with technology, household inventory systems, and organization.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Naturally anticipatory with a proactive, “no task too small” attitude.
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record and confidence driving luxury vehicles.
  • Physically capable of lifting luggage, moving household items, and assisting with the physical demands of a luxury residence.
  • Strong aesthetic sensibility with an appreciation for luxury design, beautiful homes, exceptional entertaining, and thoughtful presentation is a significant plus.
  • Positive, collaborative attitude with a genuine willingness to do whatever is needed to help the household operate seamlessly.
