Full-Time Live-Out Landscape Maintenance Specialist in Westchester County,
New York
A Westchester, NY family is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented landscape
maintenance specialist to join the existing grounds team in maintaining the extensive
plant life across their 4-acre estate. This individual must be highly knowledgeable and
passionate about plant healthcare. Overseeing the health and maintenance of a diverse
array of trees, shrubs, and flowers will be the focus of this role. This individual must
have applicable experience caring for plants and maintaining grounds. The role requires
a hands-on professional who takes pride in creating and preserving a pristine outdoor
environment, while supervising and working collaboratively with external vendors,
including a lawn care company, landscaping vendor, arborists, and more.
This is a full-time, live-out position. Initially this individual will work Sunday through
Thursday or Tuesday through Saturday, approximately 8am to 5pm. Shifts are subject to
change over time and across seasons, as the needs of the family and property change.
This individual must be flexible to work additional hours and days as required. Salary
and benefits are generous and commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Regular inspections of the grounds throughout the day to proactively identify
issues pertaining to plant healthcare
• Develop plans for addressing plant care issues and carry out to satisfactory
conclusion, keeping vendors, colleagues, and family updated as appropriate
• Manage the irrigation system, oversee watering needs of all plants, identify and
address system issues
• Supervise outdoor vendors including arborists, lawn care team and landscaping
teams
• Provide support to the grounds team in the meticulous daily cleaning and
maintenance of the property exterior, ensuring the grounds, gardens, walkways,
and outdoor spaces are in pristine condition. Examples include removal of spider
webs, bird droppings, storm debris, and wipe down of outdoor furniture
• Occasional local errands as requested
Qualifications:
• A minimum of 5 years of applicable experience is required; 10+ years of
applicable experience strongly preferred
• Experience working full-time for a private family is strongly preferred
• Impeccable attention to detail
• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
• Professional, energetic worker with a positive, team oriented attitude
• Ability to communicate effectively and work well with others
• Highly proactive and able to spot and resolve issues before they become
apparent to the family
• Protective of the family’s interests at all times
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds
• Excellent, verifiable references from current and past employers
• Must be authorized to work legally in the U.S.
• Must have own transportation
• Must be flexible to travel to out-of-state vacation home and to work evenings and
weekends as needed
