Full Time Nanny / Family Assistant in SF (Marina)

| San Francisco, CA, United States

Posted Date 8/30/2026
Description

Overview

Location: San Francisco, Marina area (applicants must live in the Bay Area)

Schedule: M–F, 8am–1pm + Sat 8:30am–4pm (this schedule is flexible for the right person; at minimum, we'd love your help one weekend day, Saturday preferred)

We're a young, loving family with an 8-month-old son, and we're excited to grow our family in the next 1–2 years. We’re looking for someone who genuinely loves caring for infants and who also enjoys creating a calm, organized, beautifully run home.

This is not a traditional nanny position. We’re looking for someone who takes initiative, notices the little things, and enjoys making life easier for the whole family. We value professionalism, warmth, discretion, reliability, excellent communication, and a genuine commitment to excellence.

This is not just a job to us — we're hoping to welcome someone into our family's life for years to come.

The Role

This is a long-term, hybrid nanny + family assistant position — equal parts loving childcare and thoughtful home support. Mom is a hands-on, stay-at-home parent who adores being involved but isn't looking to micromanage.

When it comes to our son, we take a "do less" approach. He loves to play and adventure on his own, and we want someone happy to sit back and let him stay in his flow while keeping him safe rather than entertaining or constantly stimulating him. Our parenting is paleo-inspired, so we love our little ones to be involved in housework — watching, if not contributing, to what's being done around the home.

We'd love for you to join us on trips! The ideal candidate can travel domestically and internationally with us for 1-2 weeks at a time. You’ll be provided a private bedroom or hotel room of your own, with meals covered and a daily travel stipend of ~$150/day.

Childcare duties

  • Provide attentive, joyful, fully-present care for our infant (and later, toddler)
  • Follow our feeding (including preparing solids), sleep, developmental, and medical routines with care
  • Nurture his development through reading, music, sensory play, and outdoor adventures
  • Stay close and attentive while he explores independently without hovering or over-directing his play
  • Respond promptly and warmly — we don't let our baby cry without comfort
  • As our family grows, happily and lovingly care for multiple young children, from infants through school-age
  • Prioritize safety and exercise excellent judgment at all times.

Household & Family Support

We think of this as caring for our whole family, not just our children

  • Keep the bedrooms and common spaces clean and organized
  • Leave each shift with the main spaces (kitchen, living room, bedrooms) reset
  • Wash, sterilize, and organize bottles and feeding supplies
  • Handle family laundry; neatly fold and organize clothing
  • Keep an eye on and restock diapers, wipes, formula, medication
  • Organize toys, books, and baby equipment throughout the day
  • Prepare diaper bags for outings
  • Open and break down packages; help stock household essentials as they arrive
  • Run occasional errands (dry cleaning, post office, returns, etc.)
  • Help keep the kitchen and common areas tidy (clear table, load and run dishwasher, light vaccuum)

On-Duty Conduct

Our home is calm, organized, and lovingly run, and we're looking for someone who naturally adds to that feeling. While on duty, we ask that you:

  • Be fully present and engaged with the children — no personal phone use while a child is awake or in your care, except in a true emergency
  • Carry yourself with warmth, professionalism, and maturity
  • Speak quietly and respectfully within the home, and help keep the overall energy calm and positive
  • Respect our family's privacy and confidentiality
  • Take initiative rather than waiting for direction
  • Work collaboratively with other household staff
  • Avoid using earbuds, headphones, FaceTime, streaming videos, podcasts, and other personal media while on duty

Physical Requirements

This is an active role requiring the ability to:

  • Safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and get on and off the floor throughout the day
  • Push strollers, carry car seats, and physically keep up with an active, adventurous little one

Qualifications

  • Miinimum of 5 years' professional experience as a primary nanny to infants (0–3), plus experience with school-age kids
  • Excellent English and warm, clear communication
  • Willingness to use only fragrance-free personal care and laundry products (we happily provide quality alternatives)
  • Legal to work in the U.S.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally for extended periods
  • CPR/First Aid certified within the last year (or happy to recertify)
  • Up-to-date vaccinations; valid passport
  • Outstanding, verifiable professional references
  • Genuine comfort and enjoyment working alongside a hands-on, stay-at-home parent
  • A real desire to build a long-term relationship with our family, not just fill a role

Nice to Haves

  • A background in early childhood education, child development, RIE, or Montessori — we're happy to fund these courses for you!
  • Experience working in a private household
  • Experience joyfully caring for multiple young children at once

Our Hiring Process

Because finding the right fit matters so much to us, our process includes:

  • Reference checks
  • Comprehensive background screening
  • CPR certification verification
  • A paid working interview, so we can get to know each other

To apply: We'd love to hear from you! Please include a brief note about your experience with infants and what draws you to this opportunity.
