Description

Thursday - Monday, schedule varies based on Principals and Children's visits

Position Overview

We are working with a Principal seeking a highly capable Family Assistant / Family Manager to support a dynamic household with three school-aged children who divide time between two homes. This role is centered on creating structure, consistency, and calm—particularly around child schedules, household logistics, and transitions between households—so the Principal can focus on being a present, grounded parent rather than reacting to last-minute issues.

This is a stand-alone role requiring discretion, emotional intelligence, and strong anticipatory judgment. The household values professionalism, neutrality, and proactive support. The ideal candidate is naturally organized, emotionally steady, and service-oriented—someone who takes pride in preventing problems before they arise and understands the sensitivity of working within complex family dynamics.

  • 5+ years’ experience working with private households as a W2 employee.
  • Ability to seamlessly fit into a harmonious work environment.
  • Strong communicator, both written and verbal.
  • High level of discretion, loyalty, integrity, and honesty.
  • Highly organized with an excellent eye for detail.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
  • Capable of passing an extensive background check and BAI interview.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting families with school-aged children in private household settings.
  • Proven ability to manage complex calendars, schedules, and information flows across multiple platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience implementing or managing digital tools such as shared calendars, cloud storage, and project-management platforms (Skylight Calendars, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365).
  • Experience building or contributing to a household manual or documented procedures.

  • Serve as the primary organizer for children’s schedules, school communications, activities, and day-to-day needs.
  • Monitor and manage incoming emails related to children, household matters, and personal administration—sorting, prioritizing, and flagging items appropriately.
  • Maintain and oversee shared calendars for children, coordinating school events, activities, and transitions between households.
  • Support daily household flow, including grocery coordination, errands, laundry drop-off and pick-up, light meal prep for children, and general household readiness.
  • Actively develop and maintain organizational systems that reduce mental load for the Principal.
  • Assist in setting up and maintaining digital infrastructure for the household (email aliases, file organization, task tracking, and documentation).
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers as needed and ensure follow-through.
  • Gradually contribute to the creation and maintenance of a household manual as systems stabilize.
  • Demonstrate foresight—planning ahead for children’s schedules, supply needs, and household rhythms rather than responding at the last minute.

  • The household includes children who are present on a shared-custody schedule; responsibilities shift between child-focused days and project/administrative days.
  • The role works alongside existing household support such as housekeeping services.
  • Schedule is primarily weekday-based, with occasional flexibility as family needs arise.
  • This position offers room for growth, with responsibilities and compensation potentially expanding as systems are established and trust is built.
