An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced and professional Chef or Family Cook to join a private residence in North London. This is a full-time, live-out role working alongside another Cook / Assistant Chef within a well-run household, ideal for a candidate who enjoys working as part of a team while maintaining high culinary and organisational standards.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing daily meals for the household, with a strong focus on fresh, nutritious, and well-balanced cooking. You will play a key role in menu planning, catering to specific dietary requirements (including gluten- and dairy-free), and ensuring the kitchen is always clean, organised, and efficiently run.
This is a collaborative role, requiring a team player who can work seamlessly alongside another cook, sharing responsibilities across food preparation, kitchen management, and maintaining excellent hygiene standards. The family have a preference for healthy, flavour-led cuisine, and experience with Asian cooking—particularly Japanese cuisine—would be highly advantageous.
Working hours are typically Monday to Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm, with every other Saturday from 10:30am–3:30pm. The family are ideally seeking someone based in the St John’s Wood area or within a reasonable commuting distance.
DUTIES TO INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Planning and preparing daily breakfast and lunch for the household
- Creating varied, nutritious menus tailored to dietary requirements
- Managing grocery shopping and kitchen inventory
- Ensuring the kitchen is clean, organised, and maintained to high hygiene standards
- Proper storage and rotation of fresh ingredients
- Working collaboratively with the Assistant Cook as part of a team
- Maintaining a well-stocked and efficiently run kitchen
- Adapting meals to suit dietary needs, including gluten- and lactose-free
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Proven experience as a Private Chef, Family Cook
- Strong knowledge or interest in nutrition and healthy cooking
- Experience or confidence cooking Asian cuisine (Japanese preferred)
- Ability to cook a variety of cuisines to a high standard
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced yet structured environment
- Team player with a collaborative approach
- Professional, discreet, and reliable
- Fluent English
- Based within St John’s Wood or a reasonable commute
- Right to work in the UK
