Position Overview
An Ultra High Net Worth family seeks an exceptional Director of Residences to lead and elevate the operations of a multi property portfolio.
This role requires a highly accomplished private service professional with a proven ability to manage complex residential environments with precision, discretion, and an uncompromising commitment to excellence.
The Director of Residences will serve as the operational leader across all properties, ensuring consistency of standards, seamless execution, and a refined, anticipatory approach to service. This is a hands on leadership role requiring both strategic oversight and daily operational involvement.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Staff Management
Recruit, hire, train, and directly oversee all household staff across multiple residences, including housekeepers, chefs, service staff, maintenance teams, and seasonal personnel
Establish clear organizational structure, defined roles, and accountability across all staff members
Develop and maintain staff schedules, job descriptions, and formal performance evaluations, including biannual reviews incorporating Principal feedback
Foster a professional, respectful, and service driven household culture aligned with the Principals’ expectations
Operations and Property Oversight
Direct all day to day operations across multiple luxury residences, ensuring each property is maintained to impeccable, guest ready standards at all times
Implement and uphold household systems, protocols, and service standards to ensure consistency across all locations
Coordinate staff assignments and inter property logistics to support seamless operations
Oversee property maintenance, preventative care, repairs, and capital improvement projects
Financial and Administrative Management
Develop and manage annual household budgets across all properties, with ongoing tracking and biannual reporting
Oversee payroll, benefits, and HR matters in coordination with corporate HR
Monitor and reconcile staff expenses, including credit card usage, ensuring accuracy and accountability
Process invoices and maintain highly organized, confidential financial records
Coordinate closely with the corporate office on budgeting, reporting, and financial planning
Vendor and Estate Management
Manage all vendor relationships, contracts, and service agreements, maintaining current and comprehensive vendor directories
Oversee procurement and inventory management for all residences, including household supplies, linens, equipment, and specialty items
Liaise with external partners including contractors, designers, and service providers
Service, Events and Standards
Plan and execute private dinners, formal entertaining, and social events with exceptional attention to detail
Oversee and elevate table service, wine service, and formal dining standards across all properties
Develop and implement training programs to ensure staff consistently deliver high level service, including household operations and vehicle care
Communication and Coordination
Serve as the primary point of coordination between Principals, residences, staff, and corporate office
Ensure clear, consistent communication across all properties and teams
Coordinate staff scheduling, including vacations and coverage, in alignment with household needs and with advance Principal approval
Risk Management and Confidentiality
Oversee household insurance matters and risk management protocols in coordination with designated partners
Maintain secure and confidential household records, files, and documentation
Uphold absolute discretion and confidentiality in all aspects of the role
Principal Support
Anticipate and execute on the preferences, routines, and expectations of the Principals and their guests
Ensure a seamless, elevated residential experience across all properties at all times
Candidate Profile
10+ years of progressive experience in private service, estate management, or luxury hospitality within Ultra High Net Worth environments
Proven experience overseeing multiple residences and large, multi disciplinary household teams
Exceptional leadership presence with the ability to command respect and inspire high performance
Highly organized with strong operational, financial, and administrative acumen
Deep understanding of formal service, fine dining, and luxury household standards
Discreet, polished, and service oriented with sound judgment and emotional intelligence
Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to travel and work outside traditional hours as required
Technologically proficient, including Microsoft Office and residential systems such as smart home and security
Additional Requirements
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Valid driver’s license and clean record
Valid passport with ability to travel domestically and internationally
References from prior Ultra High Net Worth or private household roles required
