Butler (UHNW Household)

Location: Alpine, NJ

Compensation: $150,000 – $175,000 (Exempt) + Discretionary Bonus

Benefits: Medical (Full coverage for employee), Dental, Vision, 401K (3.5% match), and Paid Time Off

Role Overview

A newly established UHNW family in the Fort Lee area is seeking a professional, tenacious, and highly adaptable House Manager / Butler to oversee their 8,500 sq. ft. residence. This role is ideal for a high-level professional who thrives in a "start-up" environment—where priorities shift rapidly and structure is currently being built.

Reporting to the Chief of Staff (COS), you will serve as the on-site leader for a large domestic team, ensuring the household runs with the precision of a five-star hotel while maintaining the warmth of a family home.

Key Responsibilities

  • Staff Leadership & Coordination: Act as the primary liaison between the family/COS and a staff of 14 (Housekeepers, Chefs, Nannies, Houseman, and Drivers). You must be a "hands-on" leader, willing to jump in and assist housekeepers or service staff whenever necessary.

  • Household Operations: Oversee all aspects of property maintenance, vendor management, and procurement. You will conduct daily walkthroughs to ensure the estate remains in impeccable condition.

  • Travel & Logistics: Accompany the family on extensive domestic and international travel. Manage packing, itineraries, logistics, and dining arrangements to ensure seamless transitions between locations.

  • Service & Dining: Provide "American-European" style service. Manage meal service and work closely with the culinary team. Knowledge of Kosher laws is highly preferred to support the family’s lifestyle.

  • Intuitive Support: Anticipate the needs of the Principals (busy corporate founders) and their two young children, providing personalized service without the need for constant direction.

  • Organization: Lead closet reorganization projects and manage complex household inventories.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in high-standard households. We are open to an Executive Housekeeper looking to step up or an experienced Butler comfortable with an informal but high-functioning environment.

  • Language: Native Russian is preferred; must have excellent English communication skills.

  • Disposition: "Thick skin" is essential. You must be adaptable, tenacious, and comfortable with evolving priorities.

  • Cultural Fit: Prior experience with traditional Jewish families is a significant advantage.

  • Technical Skills: Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities; must be able to implement the structure being designed by the COS.

  • Travel: Fully authorized to work in the U.S. and travel overseas.

  • Schedule: Generally Monday–Friday (8:00 AM – 6:00/8:00 PM), with later hours for Shabbat and occasional Sunday assistance as needed.

Benefits & Culture

  • Health: Comprehensive medical coverage + 50% for dependents.

  • Retirement: 401K with 3.5% match

  • Environment: A dynamic, fast-paced "start-up mentality" household where your hard work is directly reflected in the success of the home operations.
