Houseman: Private Estate
Location: Austin, Texas
Reports to: Estate Manager
This role requires someone with discretion, a motivated self-starter with physical stamina, a heart for service, and a strong understanding of luxury property care. The Houseman will assist with all aspects of exterior upkeep, some interior support, and general property maintenance. The employer is highly detailed and values someone who is proactive, thoughtful, can anticipate what needs to be done with the ability to get it handled, and able to think outside the box while following established household systems and protocols.
The Houseman is responsible for the upkeep, maintenance, and cleanliness of a lakefront estate in Austin, TX. This hands-on role requires attention to detail, initiative, and a proactive approach to maintaining the property’s unique needs, and overall functionality.
The ideal candidate will report to and work closely with the Estate Manager to ensure that the property is maintained to the highest standard and that daily operations run smoothly.

Clean Background Check: Due to the nature of the household, all candidates must pass an extensive background check with no exceptions
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: (This list may not include all responsibilities assigned.)
Weekly things to check or do:
Tennis Court: Compact/roll/water/sweep/rake/repair divots & cracks in Red clay tennis court, and clean all trash.
Padel Court: Remove leaves away from court, clean, remove trash.
Check for mail and packages, put in mail cabinet in garage.
Walk the property daily, wipe outdoor surfaces. Text Estate Manager with any issues you see that you can’t handle.
Tuesday’s take trash bins out/bring in once emptied. Always have a fresh one.
Move the trampoline to keep the grass alive, remove debris from trampoline.
Check pool gate for safety. Make sure it is not unlocked.
Turn around vehicles and check them for charge/gas levels.
Provides cleaning and care for estate vehicles. Clean the windshields daily if needed.
Put gas in cars if below ½ tank.
Remove all trash, clothes and sport equipment from vehicles and put it away and discard the trash.
Keep all kids ride on toys charged & put away when they are out
Pick up any toys, balls & items and put them where they go
Leaf Blower: Blow property daily. Driveway, paths, spa patio, all hard surfaces.
Pool: Blow the pool area and clean the tables and area, lift cushions and clean under them.
Beach: Blow the beach, rake the beach, and organize toys. Put away toys when kids are away.
Beach: Take apart beach chairs and clean all the spider webs and debris, rearrange the chairs.
Boat Dock: Keep clean. Blow it off upstairs and downstairs and wipe it down.
Boats: Keep boats cleaned.
Jet Skis: Keep clean
Sauna: Wipe down outside of sauna for spider webs.
Gym: Wipe down outside gym equipment.
Spa/Wellness Room: Wipe down spa area and equipment, keep clean. Sweep/mop floors when needed.
Outdoor Kitchen/Patio: Wipe and detail the BBQ area and outside patio, kitchen, and all surfaces.
Spider webs: Take the long spider web dusters and clean where the ceiling meets the wall outside: gym, living room, kitchen, and courtyard.
Litter: Pick up trash from front yard close to Main road.
Lightbulbs: Check every lightbulb outside and walk inside and check every lightbulb inside, replace if needed.
Garage: Organize garage, including cabinets, keep floors clean, counters wiped down.
Garage doors: Clean garage doors w/wood cleaner on the outside and wipe the inside tracks
Keep garage organized and tidy. Putting back sports items, bikes and helmets in the correct place.
Golf Cart: Keep clean
Scoop any bugs in the cold plunge
Pick up any trash and plastic water bottles around the yard and discard.
Check and straighten pool towels, ask housekeeper to replenish if low.
Remove and put away kid’s pool toys and floats from pool area and patio
Remove used towels and give to housekeeper
Straighten all pool patio furniture cushions and wipe down the tables and bar island and grill counter
Check the grill and clean when necessary.
Look at the landscape and check for dry plants or over watering
Check and Stock numerous refrigerators with waters & beverages
Work as a team player supporting a variety of staff, visitors, and functions Help care for pets: food, water, waste pickup
Attend to sports equipment and maintenance, batting cages, golf simulator, pitch n put, bocce, etc.
Monitors inventory and restocking household supplies and amenities
Perform hands-on maintenance and housing repairs unless a professional service provider is required
Bi-Weekly
Ensure electrical, plumbing, HVAC always working optimally
Check all air in tires of cars, golf cart, bicycles, and sports balls
Clean and squeegee the glass around the house.
Mop/wash pool patio.
Mop/wash courtyard patio
Mop/wash garage floor
Organize and clean generator area.
Check for paint touch ups and paint when needed
Check exterior light bulbs and make sure they all work
Check generator fuel levels
Check grill propane levels (make sure we always have a full back up)
Take the long spider web dusters and clean where the ceiling meets the wall outside gym, living room, kitchen, and courtyard.
Clean vehicles: wash and vacuum out.
Monthly
Check the roof for puddles of water
Check and clean outside HVAC closet on the side of house
Power wash front entry and driveway
Clean the garage doors inside and out
Pressure wash any area that needs it
Clean & wipe down bicycles
Check exterior GFI’s
Occasionally
Performs food and beverage service as directed by Chef and Estate Manager
Perform errands related to family or household needs
Help with event preparation, execution, and clean-up from start to finish
