Private Family in Brooklyn, NY Seeking a Hybrid Nanny / Family Assistant
Position: Full-Time, Live-Out Hybrid Nanny / Family Assistant
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM (flexibility for 8:00 AM starts on school closures/sick days); transitioning to 11:30 AM – 7:30 PM from October 2028
Salary:$35 – $40/hr + DOE (on-the-books)
Start Date: July 6 (with 1–2 weeks of paid training in late May or early June)
Relocation: No – local candidates preferred
About the Family
A warm, busy, and welcoming private family in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn, is seeking a dedicated and professional hybrid Nanny/Family Assistant to join their household. They value discretion, reliability and are looking for a long-term fit who will grow with their family over the years.
Children: Three daughters, ages 6, 9, and 12
Home Size: Five-story brownstone
Pets: Potential future dog (candidate should be comfortable with pet care if applicable)
Household Staff: Live-in Au Pair (through October 2028)
Responsibilities
Household Management, Culinary & Errands (10:00 AM – 3:00 PM):
- Prepare nutritious family dinners daily, with extra portions for next-day lunches (menu provided)
- Grocery shop 2–3 times per week and maintain kitchen inventory
- Run household errands (dry cleaning, pharmacy, package returns, etc.)
- Maintain organization and tidiness of common areas through daily straightening
- Support occasional seasonal/deep cleaning projects beyond cleaning staff scope
- Maintain high energy while navigating a five-story home daily
- Provide pet care if the family adopts a dog (walking, feeding, vet/grooming visits)
Childcare (3:00 PM – 6:00 PM):
- Provide attentive, nurturing care for the 6-year-old, including school pick-up (between 3:00–4:30 PM)
- Coordinate playdates and support learning and development
- Collaborate closely with the Au Pair caring for the older children
- Prepare and plate dinner for children before departure
- Flexibility to assist with full-day care when children are home
Post-October 2028 Transition:
- Assume full childcare responsibilities as Au Pair support ends
- Transition to 11:30 AM – 7:30 PM schedule
- Oversee evening routines and remain until parents return home

The candidate should be a strong team player, able to collaborate effectively with other caregivers, and adaptable as the family’s needs evolve over time. The family is seeking someone committed to a long-term role who will become an integral part of their household.
Requirements
- Prior experience in a similar hybrid role within a private household (nanny/family assistant/cook)
- Excellent references
- Legal to work in the United States
- CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to obtain)
- Physically capable of managing a multi-level home
- Strong cooking skills and ability to follow structured meal plans
- Comfortable with pets and potential dog care
- Flexible, reliable, and seeking long-term commitment
