A high-profile family based in Alpine, NJ is seeking a polished and service-driven Butler / House Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of their primary residence while delivering exceptional, anticipatory service. This role is best suited for a hospitality-minded professional who brings a strong foundation in formal service, wardrobe management, and household oversight within a UHNW environment.
The ideal candidate is discreet, detail-oriented, and thrives in a hands-on role balancing elevated service with operational management. Experience working within a kosher home is a strong plus.
Key Responsibilities:
Service & Guest Experience
- Deliver refined, white-glove service to principals and guests, anticipating needs and preferences
- Oversee daily meal service, including formal and informal dining
- Execute elegant tablescapes and ensure seamless service standards at all times
- Welcome and host guests, creating a warm yet highly professional household environment
Food & Beverage / Wine Management
- Collaborate closely with chefs and kitchen staff to ensure smooth execution of meals and events
- Maintain strong knowledge of food, wine, and beverage service, including proper pairing and presentation
- Oversee pantry organization, provisioning, and household inventory related to food and beverage
- Ensure adherence to dietary preferences and restrictions, including kosher practices where applicable
Wardrobe & Household Oversight
- Manage full wardrobe care including organization, maintenance, packing/unpacking, and coordination with dry cleaners and specialists
- Oversee the overall presentation and readiness of the home, ensuring all spaces are maintained to the highest standard
- Manage household inventory and ensure supplies are consistently stocked and organized
Event Coordination
- Assist in planning and executing intimate gatherings, formal dinners, and larger-scale events
- Coordinate with vendors, chefs, and external staff to ensure seamless execution
- Handle event setup and breakdown, maintaining a high level of detail and service throughout
Household Management & Administration
- Liaise with vendors, contractors, and service providers as needed
- Assist with scheduling, household logistics, and travel preparation
- Track household expenses related to service, pantry, and events
- Work collaboratively with additional staff to ensure a well-run and efficient household
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in a Butler, House Manager, or similar role within a UHNW/private household
- Strong background in hospitality and formal service (restaurant or hotel experience preferred)
- Demonstrated expertise in wardrobe management
- Solid food & beverage knowledge, including wine service and etiquette
- Experience working in a kosher home is a plus
- Highly organized, discreet, and detail-oriented
- Calm, polished demeanor with excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to anticipate needs and operate proactively in a fast-paced environment
