Position: Household Manager / Family Assistant
Location: Clinton, CT (Primary Residence) + East Hampton, CT (Secondary Residence)
Compensation: $60,000–$80,000 DOE + Paid Holidays + Two Weeks Paid Vacation
Schedule: Full-time

A warm and welcoming family based in Clinton, Connecticut is seeking an experienced, proactive Household Manager / Family Assistant to oversee the smooth daily operation of their home. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys creating order, anticipating needs, and ensuring that a household runs efficiently and comfortably. The family values initiative, reliability, and long-term continuity, and is looking for a professional who takes pride in caring for a home as if it were their own.
In addition to managing the primary residence in Clinton, the Household Manager will provide weekly oversight of the family’s lake home in East Hampton, ensuring both properties remain well maintained and properly supported. This position is ideal for someone who is organized, resourceful, flexible, and solution-oriented, with a natural ability to notice details and take action without needing direction.

Key Responsibilities
Household Operations & Organization
- Oversee the daily organization and smooth operation of the household, ensuring the home remains tidy, welcoming, and well maintained at all times.
- Maintain organization throughout the home, including pantry, cabinets, closets, garage, storage areas, and fine household items, ensuring valuable belongings are properly cared for.
- Anticipate household needs and proactively take initiative to address them without requiring direction.
- Ensure the household environment remains safe, clean, organized, and well maintained at all times.
- Run household errands including grocery shopping, dry cleaning, and restocking household supplies.
- Ensure the home remains consistently stocked with kitchen, laundry, and household essentials.
Vendor & Property Coordination
- Coordinate and supervise vendors such as landscaping, pool maintenance, repairs, power washing, and other service providers.
- Schedule, monitor, and follow up on all household maintenance and service work to ensure it meets expected standards.
- Manage seasonal household needs, including outdoor furniture setup and storage, pool readiness, and ensuring outdoor areas remain safe and well maintained.
Secondary Residence Oversight
- Conduct weekly visits to the family’s secondary residence in East Hampton.
- Coordinate access for cleaners and service providers, inspect the property after services are completed, address any issues, and secure the home before departure.
Laundry, Wardrobe & Closet Management
- Oversee laundry care, wardrobe organization, and closet maintenance.
- Ensure proper handling and organization of clothing, linens, and specialty garments.
Home Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Identify and address household maintenance issues proactively.
- Arrange repairs, coordinate contractors, and follow through until work is completed to satisfaction.
Light Household Support
- Provide light housekeeping support to maintain order and cleanliness in common areas, including surface wiping, resetting rooms, light dusting, and general upkeep.
- Occasionally assist with light meal preparation and light pet care for two dogs as needed.
Communication & Household Coordination
- Maintain regular communication with the principals regarding household updates, needs, and maintenance matters.
- Provide thoughtful suggestions and solutions to improve the efficiency and organization of the household.
Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in a Household Manager, Estate Manager, or similar role
- Proven ability to be hands-on, proactive, and resourceful, with excellent judgment and initiative
- Excellent time management skills to prioritize responsibilities efficiently
- Proficiency in residential cleaning practices and household organization
- Strong communication skills with a focus on creating positive experiences for family members and guests
- Strong organizational skills with a keen eye for detail and the ability to maintain both the interior and exterior of the property to high standards
- Ability to manage vendors and contractors effectively
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (required)
- Comfortable around dogs
