Position Overview
A private family on the Upper East Side is seeking a professional, discreet, and highly organized Live-In Housekeeper to manage the day-to-day upkeep of their Manhattan residence.
This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate seeking a stable live-in role. Due to the family’s travel schedule, the schedule can be expected to shift at times.
Schedule Expectations
As this is a live-in position, flexibility is required. When the family is in residence, the housekeeper will manage the home’s daily operations. When the family is traveling (which occurs often), responsibilities will be lighter and primarily focused on maintaining the residence.
Typical expectations may include approximately 40 hours per week when the family is in town, with flexibility depending on household needs.
Responsibilities
Housekeeping & Household Management
- Full-charge housekeeping of the residence • Daily cleaning and upkeep of all living spaces • Laundry and garment care (including ironing/steaming) • Making beds and maintaining organized closets • Receiving and organizing packages • Overseeing vendors and monitoring workmen • Coordinating dry cleaning • Managing light household inventory and ordering items (e.g., Instacart) • Ensuring the home is maintained to a high standard at all times
Light Cooking
- Prepare simple breakfasts (eggs, basic morning fare) • Prepare fresh morning vegetable juice • Make high-quality coffee and espresso beverages • Light meal preparation as needed
(Note: The family hires a private chef for formal or in-home dinner parties.)
Additional Responsibilities
- Occasional oversight of a school-aged daughter if parents step out for dinner on a weekend evening — child would typically already be asleep • Light care for a small dog when in residence (approximately 50% of the time)
