Description

NCS needed for a growing family on the Upper West Side of NYC, prioritizing trust and gentle expertise, 5 nights a week for 3 months.

Position:

2008

The Schedule:

  • Sunday-Friday nights, 12 hour shifts: 8:00 PM-8:00 AM for a 3-month term (Saturday night off)
  • Start Window: Expected week of August 24, actual due date September 12.
  •  Family would like to secure availability beginning August 24, due to the possibility of early induction.

The Child:

  • Infant boy, with a possible early delivery.
  • The family previously navigated an early medical issue with their first child.
  • They would like an NCS who is comfortable shifting to awake care if any medical need arises.
  • Additional compensation would be discussed at that time.

The Family:

  • This sweet Upper West Side family is expecting their second child, a baby boy.
  • They value a calm, grounded, empowering presence in their home; believing that calm adults create calm infants.
  • They’re looking for an NCS who brings steadiness, emotional warmth, and the experience that allows parents to fully rest at night.
  • Communication in this home is open, respectful, and collaborative.
  • They live in a three bedroom apartment with an overnight private bathroom available for their NCS, along with a comfortable setup that includes a nursery, rocker, and a couch in the living space if rest is needed.
  • Their older child is in preschool and has a devoted full-time nanny overseeing her care.
  • The home environment is peaceful, intentional, and supportive.

The Role:

  • This is a nighttime position focused entirely on supporting the infant and ensuring parents can rest confidently (outside of nursing and or pumping).
  • The NCS will support mom with pumping should she choose not to nurse.
  • You’ll handle bottle washing and sterilization during the infant’s sleep windows, and maintain a calm, organized overnight routine.
  • Infant laundry may be requested.
  • A typical shift includes feeding, soothing, monitoring sleep, thoroughly tracking intake and output, maintaining cleanliness of feeding supplies, and guiding parents gently and respectfully through their newborn's rhythms.

You:

  • You are a deeply experienced, intuitive, and steady care provider who brings warmth, trust, and a quiet confidence to the night.
  • You understand that your presence sets the tone, and your ability to remain calm, patient, and proactive creates the peaceful environment this family values so much. Your communication style is clear and respectful, and you’re experienced enough to adapt your methods to the parents’ preferences rather than relying on a one size fits all approach.
  • You are comfortable with combined feeding routines; supporting breastfeeding and pumping, and offering evidence based guidance when invited.
  • You’re knowledgeable of all common early newborn needs and can transition to awake care if medically warranted.
  • Organization comes naturally to you, and your nights are structured, predictable, and supportive without rigidity.
  • You balance professionalism with warmth, know how to build trust quickly, and you appreciate the privilege of being invited into a family during a vulnerable and transformative time. Flexible, emotionally attuned, and always dependable, you’re the kind of NCS who leaves parents waking up feeling rested, reassured, and genuinely cared for.
