An international UHNW family is looking to hire an experienced and highly professional Mandarin-speaking House Manager / Butler to oversee the operations of their private residences.

The role is primarily based in Japan and includes regular travel to Hong Kong and other international locations. It is a live-in position requiring flexibility, strong leadership, and a service-driven approach.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining high standards across all aspects of household management, team coordination, and guest experience.

Responsibilities

Household Management: Oversee the daily operations of the residence, ensuring all aspects of the household run smoothly and efficiently.
Team Leadership: Manage and coordinate all household staff, including housekeepers, drivers, tutors, and security personnel. Organise schedules and daily workflows.
Service & Hospitality: Deliver and supervise high-level hospitality for guests, including table service, event support, travel coordination, and personalised service.
Lifestyle & Coordination: Work closely with chefs to manage meals, dietary preferences, and special requests. Ensure the comfort and preferences of the principals are consistently met.
Property & Maintenance Oversight: Coordinate maintenance, contractors, and external providers to ensure the property remains in excellent condition.
Administration: Handle household budgets, expenses, reporting, and documentation. Maintain detailed inventories and operational procedures.
Recruitment & Training: Support hiring, onboarding, and performance management of household staff.
Travel Support: Travel ahead of the principals when required to prepare residences and coordinate arrivals.

Job Requirements

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role within UHNW households.
Background: Experience in luxury hospitality or formal butler training is highly valued.
Languages: Fluent in Mandarin and English (essential).
Skills: Strong leadership, organisation, and communication abilities.
Personal Qualities: Professional, discreet, highly presentable, and service-oriented.

Additional Requirements

Experience managing multicultural teams and multiple residences.
Comfortable with frequent international travel.
Passport from Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, or Taiwan is an advantage.
Open to male and female candidates.

Working Conditions

Location: Japan (primary base), with regular travel to Hong Kong and other destinations
Accommodation: Live-in provided
Schedule: 6 days per week, with flexibility required
Contract: Full-time, permanent (Japanese employment contract)
Start Date: As soon as possible
