Overview
A wonderful couple is seeking an experienced, service-minded Full-Time, Live-In Chef to join their household for the season, with the potential to transition into a year-round role. This position is ideal for a chef with prior yachting experience or a background in private service who thrives in a warm, respectful, and collaborative environment.
The couple spends weekdays at their Pennsylvania residence and weekends on the Jersey Shore. The Chef will travel with them, ensuring seamless, thoughtful meal service across both locations. The family also travels on their yacht, and the Chef may occasionally prepare meals for yacht crew while on the Shore.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a culinary professional who values creativity, organization, and a genuine heart for service.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Meal Preparation
- Prepare simple, light breakfasts and lunches (e.g., fresh fruit, salads, light proteins).
- Create elevated but approachable dinners featuring a protein, starch, and vegetable.
- No pork is served in the household.
- Prepare soups, stocks, and other items that can be reheated when needed.
- Welcome Mrs.’s interest in helping in the kitchen—creating a warm, collaborative cooking environment.
Culinary Creativity & Service Mindset
- Bring a service heart and service mind, ensuring meals feel effortless, comforting, and tailored to the couple’s preferences.
- Maintain a calm, positive, and flexible presence in the kitchen.
- Offer menu ideas that are seasonal, fresh, and aligned with the couple’s tastes.
Kitchen & Household Support
- Maintain a spotless, organized, and well-functioning kitchen at all times.
- Manage pantry inventory, restock essentials, and handle all provisioning.
- Ensure refrigerators, freezers, and dry storage are clean, labeled, and well-maintained.
- Coordinate with household staff as needed to support smooth operations.
Travel & Yacht Support
- Travel with the couple between Pennsylvania and the Jersey Shore each week.
- While on the Shore, prepare occasional meals for yacht crew as needed.
- Potential to expand into a year-round role, including travel aboard the family’s yacht.
Qualifications
- Professional culinary training required; yachting or private household experience strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain a pristine kitchen environment.
- Warm, collaborative personality with a genuine desire to serve and support.
- Ability to create simple, healthy meals as well as elevated dinner presentations.
- Flexible, discreet, trustworthy, and comfortable adapting to the couple’s routines.
- Valid driver’s license preferred.
